Hi everyone, this is Shane Dunne. I’m a software developer based in Ontario, Canada. For nearly two years now, I’ve been working with sound designer extraordinaire John “Skippy” Lehmkuhl on new music software.
Our first two products were simple MIDI insert-effect plug-ins, both of which are available free at PlugInGuru.com:
- ShowMIDI is basically a replacement for the original on-screen keyboard tool in Apple’s Logic Pro, which was removed in recent versions. It displays MIDI activity with a keyboard and up to 5 colored vertical meters showing pitch-bend and up to 4 MIDI CCs.
- ModMate is a tool for converting incoming MIDI pitch-bend and CC events to up to four separate output CCs (and/or channel aftertouch). It allows musicians without fancy MIDI hardware to use Skippy’s recent sound libraries which make use of up to four MIDI CCs.
Throughout 2019, John and I have been working on a far more ambitious project: our first commercial software product, called UNIFY. Unify is a tool for creating multi-layered composite sound presets by combining any number of music plug-ins. Unify itself runs either as a plug-in in any DAW, or as a stand-alone application for Macintosh or Windows.
John and I are super-excited about our progress with Unify, which we expect to launch in the last quarter of 2019.
